Here Is An Unsafe Kite Bladder Valve Repair
Ryan jumps on a facebook live to show you some unsafe repairs to watch out for, including an unsafe kite bladder valve repair…
You don’t want to be caught out in the water with kite repairs that go wrong so make sure you get high quality repairs done that you can be confident in when you return to the water!
It’s not worth the risk…
Your Kite is your lifeline!
Tip of the day from Ryan...
Morning guys!
How’s it going?
Another little live video from The Sail Doctor here!
On a nice, hopefully going to be windy Tuesday!
Firstly, I’ll be at the pond later on this afternoon for a sunset session…
So if anyone wants to drop anything off or get it picked up, then give us a shout.
So, I’ve had a few repairs in recently that…
To put it bluntly
Are unsafe repairs done by other repairers have just not been safe to be on the water.
PLEASE BE SAFE OUT THERE ON THE WATER – THAT INCLUDES HAVING SAFE GEAR!
And I just thought I’d show you a couple of these because I’m really quite taken back by what’s been done.
First of all, I got a call here, where the valves have simply been attempted to be reattached with glue.
Now this can be done with a bit of care and attention!
But the guy that’s done this job has just made a total hash of it.
It’s lasted no time and I’m just not impressed.
The second one is even more worrying as this person was out deep and nearly had a big swim on their hands.
This is a Naish kite, which has the internal octopus system attached the internal valves have come away from the bladder.
When I got this kite and I simply phoned my mates at Kite Addiction ordered a new bladder, fit it and put it out to the customer as a good service gig.
This person has detached the internal octopus system and attempted to make the straps, separate from the rest of the kite.
But in doing this, this is the patch that they’ve put on what would have been the octopus system…
It’s just totally unsafe!
[Make sure you check out the video to see what I’m talking about]
Anyway…
Thats enough of me jabbering on guys.
I’m just trying to say, if you’re going to get stuff done to your kite gear.
MAKE SURE IT IS DONE RIGHT!
Your Kite Is Your LIFELINE!
Just remember that your kite is your lifeline out there.
And if repairs are done badly,
Or a homemade job’s done…
Just double-check that it’s okay before you go on the water.
Because if this stuff goes wrong and you’re a long way out…
You’ve got a big swim on your hands.
